Per your skipper

Crewed Charter is an easy way of enjoying a sailing holiday without the hard work. You don't need to do any provisioning, cleaning, maintenance, planning, mooring etc. Simply step on board, and you are on the way.

We are Per and Elly Kjellqvist, your skipper and hostess, and we operate S/Y Sybaris full time, making sure she is always ready for our guests.

Our job is to take care of the tedious stuff, while your main task is to lean back and relax to the max.

During the high season we generally sail along the south western coast of Turkey and the Greek Dodecanese islands where you can choose one of our standard routes. It is a wonderful area to sail in and have a look below to get an idea of what you might experience onboard.

Sailing. The sailing is generally easy in SW Turkey, where you seldom have strong winds in the summer. Greece however, is more exposed to the Meltemi winds in July and August, resulting in more exciting sailing for those who like that. If you are interested in taking part in the sailing or anything else on board you are more than welcome, and Per is happy to give you some sailing training.

Ancient sites. The Turkish coast and Greek island are littered with ancient sites dating back to the first Greek civilizations and reaching through the Roman empire, Byzantium, the Crusaders and Venetian times. Some sights are not tourist centers, and with no entrance fee to pay you will often find yourself the only people strolling around. World known sights like Ephesus, Halicarnassus, and the Palace of the Grand Master in Rhodes are a must even if you are not into history or archeology.

Religious history. The area between the Levant (Syria and Lebanon) and Greece is where Christianity wfirst got a foothold, and you will find many interesting places such as Patmos with the Monastery of St. John and the cave where here wrote the Apocalypse (revelation), and Mura with the Church of St. Nicolas. You can literally follow in the footsteps of St. John and St. Paul who both traveled here spreading the new religion.

Greek islands. The Greek islands are known for their narrow winding alleys and white buildings with blue doors and windows. Being there is at times like being in a movie and something you will relish for a long time.

Turkish bazaars. We all like shopping for a good deal don't we? Well in places like Bodrum, Kusadasi, and Marmaris you can get lost in the bazars and purchase those "genuine" fake T-shirts or handbags you always wanted.

Party hotspots. For those of you that like to spend the evening out, it is hard to compete with places like Bodrum, Kos, Rhodes, and Marmaris.

Secluded bays. The aim of a sailing holiday for many is to get away from the daily hectic life, and nothing is more relaxing that finding a nice secluded bay and simply spending a day or more chilling out, swimming, trekking, kayaking, reading or taking a nap in the sun.

Culinary delights. Some say the Greek kitchen is boring, we can prove the opposite. How about a mezze with beautiful vegetables and fresh fish from the sea at a tavern on the beach. Turkey also has an abundance of great little taverns with a very distinct local cuisine. Trust us and you will not be disappointed.

Scuba diving. Sybaris has scuba and snorkeling gear on board. In Greece scuba diving is now allowed in most areas, and Per (an ex. scuba instructor) can guide you to some good spots. In Turkey you are required to dive with a local licensed dive guide. Just snorkeling in the crystal clear water around the boat, or with the dinghy is also always an incredible experience.

Celebrations. Why not celebrate a special occasion on Sybaris, important birthdays, wedding anniversaries, promotions etc. Tell us how you want to make your day special, and we will help you make it come true.
